Tajweed classes

Live Tajweed with a teacher who can hear you: makharij, noon sakin, madd, then Khatam.

Child reciting the Quran to an online teacher in a Tajweed class

Who it is for

Tajweed suits students who can already read the Quran in Arabic script. Your teacher listens first and begins the rules when that reading is steady.

What is learned

You apply the rules while you continue to read, and over time you work towards completing the Quran (Khatam), with a certificate. The lessons cover:

  • Makharij and sifaat
  • Rules of noon sakin and tanween
  • Rules of meem sakin
  • Qalqalah
  • Types of madd
  • Heavy and light letters
  • Completing the Quran (Khatam), with a certificate

Lesson format

Classes are still 30 minutes, live and one-to-one in the Noor Harf classroom. You choose a female or male teacher. The teacher hears you apply the rules as you read. You keep the same weekly time, with a 15-minute gap after class.

A typical lesson

A typical lesson works through one or two rules in your recitation. The teacher listens for makharij and madd, then you continue the Khatam reading. A certificate is for completing the Quran, not for a short first week.

How to start

Book 3 free trial classes for Quran, no card needed. If you already read and would like Tajweed, say so when you book so the placement assessment can listen first. Your teacher decides when the rules begin.
